Should AP send wire transfers?

Q.¬†Currently all wires are submitted directly to the treasury department by the employee who is needing the wire. Once the wires are processed, the treasury department sends to AP for recording purposes. The treasury department is wanting to change the process to where the wires are sent directly to AP for entering into the system first; then AP is to send the wire requests to treasury for treasury to process.
