How do I access my study materials?

The E-Learning Center is located on your “My Account” page. Under the My Courses tab, click on your course to launch the course homepage. All of your study materials will be under the first tab, Assignments. Click an assignment to begin.

Study Guide: Click the LAUNCH button to open the study guide in a new browser tab. The study guide has a table of contents at left and a search bar at right for easy navigation. You can use the arrows on the sides of the book or the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate, and you can double-click on a page to zoom in. On the bottom of the screen you will see options for full-screen reading and printing.

Once the study guide is opened, the assignment is considered “completed,” but you can close and open the study guide as many times as you’d like. It will not save your place in the book when you exit. Exit the tab and close the launch window by clicking the Close button in the lower left corner to return to the course homepage.

Training Video: The video is divided up into multiple sections to break up the training. Use the PREV and NEXT buttons to navigate between sections. Each video section has a play button and player controls for navigation. Once you open the training video, the assignment will be considered “completed,” but you can open and close the training video as many times as you want. Click the Close button in the lower left corner to return to the course homepage.

Practice Exam: This is an optional assignment that you can use to test your preparedness for the final exam. The questions are pulled from the final exam question pool and are displayed in a similar format to the final exam. You cannot skip ahead, but you can navigate back to any previously visited question. You can leave questions blank (though we don’t recommend it), and you do have a chance to review your answers before submission. Your score has no effect on your course progress, but you must answer all questions correctly in order for the optional assignment to be considered “completed.”

Resources tab: The resources tab contains links or files that are not necessary to completing the program but may be helpful, such as the slides used by the presenter during the training video.

Can I print the study guide?

Yes! IOFM's preferred browser is Google Chrome, and the following instructions refer specifically to that browser. When you launch the study guide, you will see a print icon at the bottom of the page. (Do not try to use File > Print option within your browser – that will not work.) Click the print icon, and then select “Custom Range” to print the entire study guide. The system print dialogue box will open when you hit "Print." Select all pages and the printing options you want, and you’re good to go!

How long should it take me to complete the program? Do you have a recommended timeline?

While you a full year to complete the program to accommodate for your busy personal and professional lives and your individual learning pace, IOFM suggests a recommended timeline of three months to be prepared to take your first attempt:

1. Read the study guide over a period of 4-6 weeks.

2. Watch the training over the next 4 weeks.

3. Take 2-4 weeks to take the practice exam and review the content, focusing on the sections with which you felt the least comfortable.

Everyone learns at their own pace – feel free to go faster or slower depending on what is comfortable for you. Whatever pace you choose, a self-paced course requires you to be self-motivated and disciplined to ensure you complete the program. Setting a schedule for yourself with reminders will help you stay on track.

Taking Your Certification Exam

How many attempts do I have at the final exam, and how long do I have to use them?

You have three attempts at the final exam. You can see your attempt counter under the “Attempts” column on the Exams tab.

What is the format of the exam, and how is it graded?

Final exams are 100 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes (with a few exceptions). They are graded pass/fail, and you are informed of your results immediately upon submission. There is no penalty for incorrect answers, so it is in your favor to not leave any answers blank.

Can I stop or pause an exam attempt?

The exam has a timer in the lower right corner that starts when you launch the exam and cannot be stopped by logging out or exiting the browser. Please be certain that you are prepared to sit for the entire exam before you launch the exam, otherwise you will waste one of your attempts.

How do I take my exam?

The E-Learning Center is located on your “My Account” page. Under the My Courses tab, Click on your course to launch the course homepage. Your final exam will be under the second tab, Exams.

Final exams have a number of features that you should be aware of before you begin:

  • Questions display one-at-a-time. You can see question numbers/where you are in the exam in the menu at left. Use the PREV/NEXT buttons to navigate between questions on the exam. Do NOT use the browser back button. You cannot skip ahead more than one question, but you navigate back to any previously visited question. You can leave questions blank, but we do not recommend doing so since there is no penalty for wrong answers.
  • There is an option to “flag” questions to make them easier to find during review. You will not "jump" to flagged questions; you still have to go thorugh every question during review, but flagging questions makes it easier to see which questions you wanted to revisit
  • If you do leave and come back to the exam, which we do NOT recommend doing, your random question order will reshuffle.

Is the exam open book?

No. You have a limited amount of time to finish the exam, and if you do not know the material well enough to answer the questions without looking them up, you will run out of time.

Will I be able to review my answers before I submit?

When you reach the final question, you will have the opportunity to go back and review your answers before you submit. You can use the PREV/NEXT button or the menu on the left.

When do I find out if I passed? Can I see my score or what I got wrong?

You are informed of your pass/fail results immediately upon submission.

We do not reveal scores. Why? The purpose of the exams is to determine if a candidate has or does not have the knowledge necessary to be certified in accounts payable, procure-to-pay, accounts receivable or order-to-cash, according to the standards set by IOFM in the respective certifications for these professions. It is not the purpose of the exams to assign rank or any other interpretation to the score. Pass/Fail scores were determined using the cut-score process recommended and overseen by The Chauncey Group (now Prometric), recognized experts in testing and assessments.

According to The Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing, developed jointly by the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME):

"11.15 Test users should be alert to potential misinterpretations of test scores and to possible unintended consequences of test use; users should take steps to minimize or avoid foreseeable misinterpretations and unintended negative consequences." (The Standards, 1999, p. 116)

What should I do if I fail the exam?

If you fail - don’t worry! Many people do not pass on their first attempt. You still have two more attempts to pass the final exam. The additional attempts are already available under the “Exams” tab of the course homepage whenever you are ready to try again.

We are not able to provide exam analysis on an individual basis to tell you which areas to focus on studying. However, we can tell you that studying more before attempting again will only increase your chances for success in future attempts. We strongly recommend not immediately using another attempt. Consult your notes and spend some time with the areas in which you are least comfortable. Try the practice quiz again. Review the videos.

If you run out of attempts, please contact Certification Support or your account representative for next steps.

Maintaining a Certification

Where is my certificate?

Congratulations! Your certificate is located under the My Certifications tab (the second tab from the left) of the E-Learning Center on your “My Account” page. Click the “Get Certificate” button next to the active certification, and your certificate will automatically download.

Why do I need to maintain my certification?

Regulatory rules and technologies are changing at a rapid pace – and the continuing education requirements of certification ensure credential holders continue to maintain and enhance their expertise. Maintaining your certification is demonstrate a commitment to excellence – proof to your employer and colleagues that you are dedicated to staying informed and at the top of the your industry. Therefore, IOFM requires accredited professionals to earn continuing education units (CEUs) through training, education and other professional development activities.

How do I maintain my certification? What are CEUs?

To maintain your certification, IOFM requires that you earn AND log 15 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) per year. This must be completed and logged in your account before your compliance date in order for your certification to renew. Failure to do so in a timely manner will result in the loss of your certification.

To learn more about what is eligible for CEUs, read our Continuing Education Guidelines and check out the CEU Opportunities.

What if I have more than one certification?

Congratulations! You’re part of an elite group that hold more than one certification. If you contact Certification Support, we will adjust your certification dates so that you have the same expiration date for both for ease of CEU reporting.

Depending on the certifications that you hold, you may only need 15 CEUs to maintain multiple certifications (not 15 per certification). However, you will still need to log 15 CEUs towards each certification in the platform, even if you are logging the same activity twice.

Certification StatusCEU Requirement
If you are AP and P2P certified15 CEUs total annually
If you are AR and O2C certified15 CEUs total annually
If you are AP or P2P certified and AR and O2C certified 15 CEUs each annually (30 total)

How do I report my CEUs?

Logging your Continuing Education Units (CEUs) has never been easier or more intuitive! Under the My Certifications tab (the second tab from the left) of the E-Learning Center on your “My Account” page, click the “Manage CEUs” button next to the active certification.

You’ll see a list of all the CEUs currently logged in your account, with the ability to remove them by clicking the trash can icon at right (you cannot edit CEUs once recorded, so if you make a mistake, you’ll need to delete and re-enter). To add CEUs, click +Add CEU in the upper right corner. Fill out the required fields (activity name, type, subject area, date, provider and number of CEUs).

Optional, but highly recommended – you can upload verification (certificate of completion, receipt or other proof of attendance/additional information concerning eligibility of activity for CEUs). This will help you if your account is ever audited. Click Add CEU at the bottom of the pop-up. That’s it!

How do I log CEUs from outside of IOFM?

We’ve done away with separate logging procedures for CEUs offered by IOFM and CEUs earned from other organizations. You now use the same procedure to log both using the simple form accessed through the "Manage CEUs" screen.

Will my activity on the IOFM.com website automatically log CEUs in my account?

EVERYTHING is your responsibility to self-report before your adate. Nothing will log automatically in your account.
