1099s for contractors who are veterinarians?

Q. We have independent contractors who work in our veterinary hospital. They are also DVMs or doctors so they are also providing a "medical service" for our company. Do we report them on the 1099-Misc Box 6 (medical services) or do we report them on 1099-NEC Box 1? In the past we reported it as a medical service.
