Q. Should "Student Crisis/Emergency" payments to students to help them cover unexpected expenses be reported on a 1099? If so, is there an amount threshold where reporting must occur, and in which box number do I report? These payments are typically for items such as emergency housing, unexpected medical expenses, laptop repair, car repair, etc. They are NOT payments to cover tuition, meal plans, on-campus housing or any other times that would normally be billed through student accounts at the…
