Form 1042 E-Filing via IFA: Where to Find File Format Specs

Q. We are a large taxpayer intending to file Form 1042 electronically ourselves instead of using a third party. Our software engineers have reviewed publications 4164, 4163, and 5446, but are having difficulty determining the file specifications required to transmit Form 1042 using IFA through our e-services account. Given that we're not intending to develop software or transmit using A2A, we don't think the Form 1042 XML schemas and business rules are required.
