Pass-through payment made to a talent agency

Q. We paid an agency for a performer. They provided their tax ID information but did not provide any tax information (W-9) for the artist. Today, after receiving the 1099-NEC that we sent, they requested that we void the original 1099 and send a new 1099 to the artist because they just are a passthrough for the artist.
