Q. What is the 1099INT Interest Threshold? I believe the threshold should be $600, information from the IRS is indicating $10 or more. A. Answered by IOFM's third-party tax expert. The $10 threshold applies to investment interest such as a bank paying interest on a savings account. The $2,000 threshold applies to interest paid in the course of a trade or business, such as interest on a loan or other types of interest payments not related to financial accounts.  #128696
