Q. I submitted our 1099s electronically through the IRS fire system in January. I have been notified our system had it flagged incorrectly and a 1099 was not issued. Do I need to file this additional 1099 with the IRS and will this cause a penalty? A. (Answered by IOFM's third-party tax expert) Yes, go ahead and file the form now. The IRS "could" penalize you for late filing in this situation, but you should file if you realize one needed to be filed.  116141
