W-9 on File, But Vendor Has UK VAT Number—Should You Request a W-8?

Q. We have a supplier that has a valid W9 as a partnership. However, they have now sent an invoice with an address in the UK and a VAT registration number starting with GB. The vendor name on invoice is the same as the name on the W9. The team asked them for a W8 and they said they can not fill out a W8 because everything flows thru the US as on the W9. Is this accurate or should we be questioning more and asking for further information? If they have a VAT registration number, would they…
