Q. We have some confusion regarding garnishments--which ones to 1099 and which ones not to send. From what I understand, we are to issue 1099s for garnishments to the employee who was garnished, with the exception for bankruptcy. Is that the case?  The problem is, our AP department doesn’t know why the employees are garnished. And for employees, how we should approach a separate 1099? A.
