LLCs that designate themselves as S or C corporations

Q. I have several suppliers that are LLCs, but write in either S or C as the tax classification. I am certain they are exempt from receiving a 1099 form from me. However, I keep second guessing myself and thought I would make sure I am right. Also, if they are an individual/sole proprietor and check one of the corporation boxes, are they exempt from 1099s as well?
