Q. I took the IOFM class “Form 1042-S box by box” last week. The instructor stated that if you report tax withholding in box 11, it’s most “often used when a failure to withhold has been discovered after the payment has been made”. I asked about it at the end of class but the answer was too fast for me to understand. ( According to the IRS 1042S instructions: Box 11, Tax paid by withholding agent (amounts not withheld). Enter the total amount of tax paid by you and not withheld from the payment…
