Q. How should a servicer handle a situation where our borrower returns a W-8Ben with no ITIN, TIN or SSN number provided due to being a foreign borrower. What identification number should be used when filling out 1099-INT’s or 1042-S for these borrowers? The interest that is being paid to this customer is interest on their escrow balance for their mortgage located in California. Please let me know if anymore information is needed. A.
